Yesterday

October 24th, 2008

Yesterday I left the campus with the cross country team. We headed for Birmingham and the Gulf South conference meet. I left the ministry in the hands of my students leaders. Sounds dangerous, doesn’t it?

When I drove onto campus at 7:30am yesterday morning the banners advertising our meeting were already up. When I called at 11am to check on things, some of my guys were preparing to work at the Vera Lloyd home. At about 1pm I got a call from one of my young ladies who was working on a dinner we are putting together for the girls of Vera Lloyd. It’s going to be a fancy affair and we wanted to go all out with the decorations. Brooke had talked to some teachers at her old high school and they assured her that we could use anything they had. She was ecstatic.

After dinner I called to check on the soccer games we had today. Both of our teams won and they’ll be facing eachother in the finals on Monday. At about 10:30pm I called to see how the Bible study went and I interrupted the bell ceremony. The bell ceremony is what we do when someone accepts Jesus during the week. We walk down to Weevil Pond from the Center, introduce the person who has been saved and we celebrate their decision by ringing the Victory Bell; a huge bell that sits on the west bank of the pond. They were ringing the bell when I called because one of our young men had received Christ at Renown.

To top it all off, two of our international students who are Hindu and play on our Alpha Omega International team came to Renown for the first time last night. Richard Eberle told me that they were singing their heads off during worship. They aren’t sure about everything that’s going on but they know that there is something about it that they love. The Spirit is moving in their hearts. God is awesome.

As I’m writing this to you, three of my guys are in route to me with jerseys for the cross country team that were left at home and without which we cannot compete. They are making a road trip on my behalf. All that happened yesterday or is in the process of happening now. I need to leave more often.

I am a leader of the MBSF but I am not The Leader of the MBSF. The Leader is much more effecient and organized than I will ever be. My leaders and I are doing our best to follow The Leader. I think my leaders are learning to follow Him quite well. That proved that yesterday.
