What God Is Blessing

September 9th, 2008

God is blessing our Thursday night meetings. We’re averageing over 100 students each week. Kasey has been doing a wonderful job leading the praise team and the students in worship. The singing is amazing. The Spirit has been moving our students to action and two freshmen accepted Christ this past week during our meeting.

God is blessing our efforts to help students in need. We are helping a senior at Drew Central pay for the costs of her senior year. We’re helping her buy school clothes and a class ring and have her senior pictures made. Our young ladies are taking her on a retreat this coming weekend just to let her stay in a nice hotel and shop for clothes and relax. She is so excited about the love being lavished on her by our young ladies. The group has already raised over $500 for this effort. The group is also sponsoring a freshmen through his first semester at UAM. They’ve raised over $500 for the cost of his books and the group is paying over $400 for the next three monthes to finalize his costs. The students are doing this on their own and God is blessing their efforts.

God is blessing our fundraising. We’ve raised over $375,000 toward the cost of our expansion and we are hoping to break ground by the first of October. This morning I was thinking and praying about our efforts and I was talking to the Lord about the fact that we haven’t had a large gift in a month or so. At about 10am a former member of Pauline, who is now a member at Bethel in Possum Valley, walked in the Center door. I asked her what brought her here and she said she came to brighten my day. Tina handed me a check for $500 from their church for our building. God answered my prayer quickly. God is blessing.

God is blessing us with troubled people. We’ve been praying that we would only do what God could bless and so He has been sending us all kinds of people in distress. We’ve got students that have been abused, that have lost their parents, that are in financial and physical distress. We have a building full of people who are struggling with the problems of life’s temptations. Just the kind of people that Jesus surrounded himself with. God can’t help but bless us.

I’d love to pray, “God, enough”, but I know this is what he wants for us. He wants to bless us and it’s creating a lot of hard work. Pray that we will live out Hebrews 12.1-3 and keep our eyes on Jesus so that we don’t faint under the weight of all this blessing.

Father, do not bless what we are doing but help us do what you will bless.
