What are you going to do?

May 21st, 2009

I believe that Jesus is the one and only Son of the living God. I believe that He died on a cross over 2000 years ago on a hill outside the city of Jerusalem. I believe that when He died He was paying for all the sin of all mankind, once and for all. I believe that since He rose from the grave, if I put my faith in Him I will live forever in heaven when this life is over. I believe that anyone else who does the same will receive the same reward. I believe that anyone who does not trust in Jesus will be separated from God for eternity and will live forever in a place called Hell where there is misery and suffering and pain and regret and remorse forever and ever and ever.

Suppose you are standing at the front doors of your local Walmart Super Center. As you look to your left you see a small boy step off the sidewalk and into the parking lot. You glance back to your right and see an oncoming truck. It’s accelerating quickly toward the child. You realize that it is inevitable that the vehicle will strike the child if someone does not intervene. Are you going to call out for his mother? Are you going to call a minister? Are you going to look for the security guard? What are you going to do?

If you believe that the child is in mortal danger then you are bound to act. If you believe that the world is in mortal danger then you are bound to act. What are you going to do? (John 3.16,17)
