“And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” (IICor.3.18)
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12.2)
My pastor asked the entire staff to read a book called Simple Church. It’s a very insightful and convicting little book. It’s making me look at things as simply as I possibly can. So, let me ask you a simple question; are you being transformed?
I want you to pull out a piece of paper. I want you to get a pencil or a pen. Now, write down the ways that God is shaping your life. How is his Word changing the way you think about the poor, the sick, the wicked, the imprisoned, the depressed, the economy, your family, church, money, sex, anything? Are you any different than when you accepted Jesus as your Saviour? How so? Write it down.
Now, look at that list. Can you, in good conscience, say that you are being transformed? The Scripture says that we are. It doesn’t say we should be. It doesn’t say we might be. It says we are being. Oh, but wait, there is a condition. “We, who with unveiled faces”. Are you covering up something? Are you hiding from the presence of God? Have you put something in between you and He? Are you looking full into His face? Are you reflecting his glory?
Take off the veil. Look into the face of the One who gave Himself for you and start the transformation. Pick up your Bible and read. Sit down or lie down and pray. Only He can transform us. We must get into His presence. It’s very simple.
