I’d like to stop the pornography industry. I’d love to end world hunger. I think it would be wonderful if we could live together in peace and harmony and end all war. I’d settle for getting so-called Christians to stop spreading vindictive and hateful statements about eachother. None of these may happen but I am ready to try.
How can we stop the sale of pornography? Stop buying it. Stop looking at it. Stop visiting those websites. Every man that is reading this knows what I am talking about. Stop pretending to live a Godly life and start living it out in earnest. Just stop, and tell all your friends to do the same. If all the “believers” that are men would stand up and grow a set that mess would stop or at least slow down. Come on guys, step up.
$35 a month will feed, house, clothe, and educate a child in a third world country. Who can’t afford $35 a month? How many of us pay over $600 a year for the priviledge to deer hunt somewhere? That’s $50 a month. You’d rather pay to take the lives of four deer than to pay and change the life of one child. Who are you kidding? You are not following Jesus.
I don’t have an answer to ending the needless bloodshed that occurs between nations. But I can tell you this, we need to be on the front lines trying to heal the wounded and give aid to the refugees. Do you realize that there are more than 1.5 million refugees in the African nation of Sudan. They have been displaced by the bloody civil war that is ravageing their country. Organizations like World Vision and Compassion International are making a difference in the Sudan and Uganda and Cambodia and other war-torn places around the globe. We can help by sending our money along with our prayers.
And last, but not least, about spreading vicious, malicious, hurtful truth or lies about anyone. I have the answer for that. Shut up! And if you are listening to people talk that mess then SHAME ON YOU! Look them right in the eye and say, in a clear and loud tone, “Shut up”. Do not soft sell it. Do not be kind. Do not try to talk them into being loving. Just tell them to “Shut up and take that somewhere else”. There is no excuse for talking about someone else’s pain or misery or sin. Help or pray or get out of the way but do not talk about it.
I’ve heard enough. I’ve said enough. It’s time for believers to stop talking and start acting out. How many pep-rallies do we need? How long before we start this game? Are we going to watch or play? I, for one, am tired of spectating!
“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.” (Eph. 5.8) “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” (Luke 4.18,19)
“Live as if Christ died yesterday, rose this morning, and is returning tomorrow.” Martin Luther
