“Are you willing to be open to the will of God for your life?” Rob Stevenson asked Richard Stearns that question. Rob Stevenson was hired by World Vision, the children’s relief organization, to help them find their next president of operations. Richard Stearns, at the time of the question, was CEO of the Lenox corporation and was making a six figure income. If Stearns took the job he would have to move his family out of their dream house, take a 75% cut in pay, work with the poorest people on the planet, and give back his royal blue Jaguar XK-8. What would you say?
So, I asked myself that question; Am I open to the will of God in my life? Will I let God rule my finances? Will I let God rule the way I use my time? Will I go wherever God sends me? Will I speak to whomever God puts in front of me? Will I love those who are in need and care for all those who are hurting regardless of race, or religion, or status?
Am I open to the will of God in my life? I’m not sure. I want to be. Richard Stearns was. He is the president of World Vision. He just wrote a book about it. It’s amazing. It’s called “The Hole In Our Gospel”. You should read it. How different would our world be this morning, if all of us were open to the will of God for our lives? “He must become greater, I must become less.” (John 3.30)
“We have shrunk Jesus down to the size where He can save our soul but cannot change our world.” “Are you open to the will of God for your life?”
