Susan Boyle. Have you seen her yet? She’s the lady that everyone is talking about. She’s a singer who is performing on “Britain’s Got Talent”. If you haven’t seen her sing “I Had A Dream” then stop reading this blog, go to You Tube, google Susan Boyle sings “I Had A Dream”, turn your volume up and reach for the tissues. Impossible, unthinkable, inconcievable, unbelievable, incomprehensible; all those terms come to mind when you first see her walk on stage. She’s 47 years old, never been kissed, lives alone with her cat, has no job, is not attractive in any way, shape, form, or fashion and she wants to be a professional singer.

When she is interviewing with Simon, just before her performance, the cameras pan the audience and the reactions range from disbelief to disgust. Everyone is bracing for failure. The questions end, the prelude begins, and Susan Boyle opens her mouth and the angels sing. The room is stunned. The judges mouthes drop open. The audience explodes with applause. By the first two lines they are all on their feet, judges included.

Susan Boyle had one shot at fame and it did not pass her by unattained. She has achieved star status. She is, or will be, a household name before this years competition is over. Susan Boyle shocked the world. Impossible, unthinkable, inconcievable, unbelievable, incomprehensible; these same words still apply to Susan.

Peter, the apostle, wanted to walk on water. Impossible, unthinkable, inconcievable, unbelievable, incomprehensible. It can’t be done. Who are you to try? It’s physically impossible. Failure is inevitable. Why take the risk? Sit down, stop rocking the boat. But Peter cannot let the moment pass him by. He asks for the call from Jesus. He is given permission. He rises and, I believe, he leaps over the edge into the boiling sea. And he’s walking. Yes!! Peter is walking! Not for long, I know, but don’t steal the joy. For few brief moments of time Peter has transcended the limitations of earth!

Do you have a dream that seems impossible, unthinkable, inconcievable, unbelievable, incomprehensible? Do you have the courage to ask God to grant you that dream? Do you have the guts, the stamina, the perseverance, to make that dream become a reality? Will you live out your dream like Susan Boyle? Will you leap into the middle of what seems to be impossible odds and unthinkable danger like Peter?

You must believe in the dream and in the One who placed it in you. Hold nothing back. Step to the edge, take a deep breath, and let it fly. Shock the world! Susan Boyle did and we all smiled. Peter did and we are in awe. It’s your turn.
