How many times have you been down to your last dime? We’ve all been there, haven’t we? How many times have you been down to your last friend? Been there? Has anyone been without a home? Without a job? Completely alone? Even in those times we know that we are not alone.
In those times we know that God is all we have. God is always there. He is the great I Am. The God of the immediate now. It’s a great comfort to know that He knows, He cares, and He is in control of our lives.
When we reach that point in our lives we recognize that God is all we need. “My God shall supply all your needs.” Right. We know that with God “all things are possible”. “If we ask in prayer, believing, we will receive.” God IS all we need.
But is God all we want? I mean, is your agenda for your life the same as God’s agenda for your life? Do you want what God wants? Does your heart break for the same reasons that His breaks? “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…”; can you pray that?
See, it’s great to know that God will always be there for me and that He can supply my every need but that just makes him Santa Claus unless…He is all that I want.
“I have learned how to get along happily whether I have much or little. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything….I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Phil. 4.11-13)
