Sometimes I wake up in the morning and I dread looking at this blank portion of screen. I know I’m supposed to fill it with something insightful and encouraging and I’m just not sure that I have that ability every morning. Those of you who read this blog each day are probably sure of that fact.
I read one scripture this morning that drove me to this place and hopefully will continue to motivate me through the rest of the day. Maybe it will do the same for you. I Samuel 17.48 says, “As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him.” (NLT)
David was running toward the giant. Am I going to run toward my “giant”? I’ve got plenty of “giants” in my life. They aren’t as big and as well defined as the one David faced. But giants are like surgeries, they are all major if they are mine. You have them. You know what they are or who they are and where they reside. You may have woken up with the giant on your mind. Let me give you some reassurance; your giant can be slain.
The One we follow specializes in slaying giants. He faced Death, Hell, and the Grave and came out victorious. Ephesians 6.11 tells us to “Put on the whole armor of God” and stand. Don’t face your giant in your own power, David didn’t. David was facing Goliath in the name and power of the Lord Almighty and the battle was the Lord’s. So put on the armor and take a stand against your giant this morning.
Don’t step back one inch. As a matter of fact, it’s better if you run toward the giant. I’m a firm believer that the closer I am to something the more likely I am to hit it. It’s true when I hunt. I’m much more likely to hit something at close range. It’s the same with giants. David knew that. He’d faced lions and bears and he knew that to be effective you needed to get close. That rule applies to giants.
So, put on the whole armor. Look it up in Eph. 6 this morning and get the gear on and run toward the battle line. The giant that you face may be huge. Good, all the better to hit him at close proximity.

One of the first things I do each day is check to see if you “went out blogging this morning”. Your messages help me get started and this was a good one.
You have been on a roll lately. Keep it up. If you will write it, we will read it!
