First Day

January 2nd, 2010

It’s the first day of a new year. Has it been different? Do you feel any different? Is life going to be any different for you this year than it was the last? Of course it is, but how much different will it be?

I watched “Blindside” tonight. I watched it with Emily and Carla and Justin. They made me watch it. I wanted to stay home and rest. They forced me to go. They said I’d enjoy it. They said I needed it. They were right.

Something happened at the end of that movie that I haven’t seen since “The Passion”, no one moved when it was over. The entire audience remained in their seats until the final credits rolled. They loved a good story that was well told. They knew there was something right about the Michael Or story. I wanted to see more.

I want to see more. Let this day be the first day that I determine not to turn my head. Let this be the first day that I refuse to ignore the pain that others endure. May this day go down as the first day that I decided to really give all I have to rescue every single soul that I can reach. If this day is the first day then I will see more. I will be a party to more. And so will you.

Let it be the first day. May 364 more follow.
