Good morning, guys. Do you ever wonder why God does what He does in the way that He does? Confusing question for an early morning, isn’t it? Well, I wonder.
Last night was a marvelous night at the MBSF Center. Dr. Jack Lassiter, the chancellor of our university, came to visit us and share his testimony. You see, just a few weeks ago, Dr. Lassiter had a severe stroke. Last night he told us an amazing story about how God had preserved him by a series of unusual events.
Dr. Lassiter was washing his hands when he had the stroke. He was rendered immobile on his left side and he could not speak. No one knew where he was. He was laying, helpless, on the floor of the uni-sex restroom in the administration building when he was found by two young ladies who were visiting the university that day.
It was out of the ordinary that the two young ladies went into the unisex restroom instead of the ladies room. It was out of the ordinary that Dr. Lassiter did not lock the door. It was extraordinary that only minutes had passed before he was found. It was very unusual that the attending physician in the ER that day was a personal friend of Dr. Lassiter’s. The doctor was swift in calling for a med-flight helicopter to take Dr. Lassiter to UAMS. He was expediant in his request for a needed shot of medicine that would break the clot that caused the stroke. Over and over, it was obvious that the Lord had intervened on behalf of Dr. Lassiter.
I won’t try to retell his testimony. Let me just say that Dr. Lassiter gave Jesus the credit for preserving his life. He said last night that God had something more for him to do and that is why he was able to be with us.
“He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delights in me.”
(2Samuel. 22.20)
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (IJohn 4.10)
God preserved Dr. Lassiter because he delights in the life of Jack Lassiter and he is not finished with him yet. He preserves us all for the same reason. He loves us and takes delight in us. He loves us with a love that transcends time. He sent his Son to die for us because we are all rendered helpless and hopeless because of sin. I don’t know exactly why God does what He does in the way that He does but I am so grateful that He does.
