“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.” Joel 3.28
“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” Albert Einstein
“I have a dream…” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“Am I quite mad?” asked the Mad Hatter. “Quite.” said Alice. “May I tell you something?” asked Alice. “All the best people are.” (Alice in Wonderland)
They thought he was crazy. It had never rained and he was building a boat big enough to house an entire zoo and then some. His boys were just as nuts because they bought into it. Every day, day after day and month after month he would plead with them to prepare themselves for the storm that was coming. Night after night they stayed up bounding on beams and shaping planks. He was the laughing stock of the whole community. And then it thundered. And the family went in. “And God closed the door.” And the water rose and the people panicked and rushed for higher and higher ground until they couldn’t climb any higher or until the waters overtook them. And all those who scoffed were silenced and only those who were “mad” survived.
Dreams and visions have a way of silencing critics. God has a dream for this planet. He wants to restore it. He’s going to. He wants to use us in the process. He gives young ones visions of how to make it happen and he gives old ones dreams of what it will be like when it does. Most of the dreams and visions seem like lunacy, until the waters start to rise. Each of us have a choice; buy in our stand by and watch. Just remember that if you choose to watch you may be on the outside of a locked door when the flood comes.
